Firebird performance on Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation PL

I am using FireBird 2.1.3 (x64) on Windows 2008 R2 Foundation PL (x64) with default configuration. I have 32 bit application which connects to firebird via TCP connection using 32-bit fbclient.dll. My problem is that the application stores several records on every minute in database, this task is taking about 5 to 10 seconds which is too slow. Has anyone faced such kind of connection issue??? or has any idea about it??

I am not sure but it seems as if there's something wrong with Firebird, a better idea will be contacting Firebird. Just address them your issue along with the solution that you might have tried and check out if they are of any help.

I don't think there might be anything wrong with Firebird, i have used it on Windows Server 2003 and 2003 R2 and i never has any issue as such. My application used to take just 1 seconds for storing records in database. As far as i can guess Windows 2008 R2 Foundation PL (x64) is having poor storage subsystem.

    Hi turcoags,

Can you tell us that the slow machine have System Restore on for that drive? Either turn that off or use a different extension than .GDB. Do you use auto commit mode ? If yes, then try to wrap the 5000 records insertion into single transaction. That will seriously raise performance.
