Windows Vista Ultimate locks up

I have some problems in my Windows Vista system from a couple of days. This problem arised after some updates that were recently installed via the Windows Update features. I have asked Microsoft about this problem and some little things are solved but the main problem of Vista locking up is still intact. I cannot complete the backup procedure because it has also locked up with a backup program. When I go into even log I get the following error:

Event ID 45 - volmgr, description: The system could not sucessfully load the crash dump driver.

Event ID 7000 - Service Control Manager Event Log Provider - The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried checking the "Hibernate" or "Sleep" kind of parameters. One of my friend used to get this same behaviour on his computer and apart from the Windows Update change, the only thing that he changed was a Belking wifi card. He is not trying to change the card and see if that resolves the problem for him. Another thing that I noticed from a member who was having similar issue was his hard drive. So what you can do is clone the hard drive that you are using with some cloning software like Acronis to a new drive and check if the problem goes away.
