Complete PC Backup Hard Disk Space

I have a small question regarding PC backup on Windows Vista. Whenever I create a new backup I see that the earlier one gets deleted or disappeared. It won’t remain any more in the WindowsImageBackup folder. But surprisingly the space used by the earlier backups seems to be vanished.

Is there anyone having good experience of the same ?

I bought a new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows Vista ultimate. First let me tell you that am new to Vista, this is the first time I put my hands on. There is no problem with the laptop performance but I have a query regarding its default BackUp and Restore Center. As I keep my system backup on external 500Gb Hard drive and in the manuals they have written that we need tp press F8 on boot up in order to restore the backup. So I want to know whether system can excess external drive at that stage?

For your own safety you should use other backup software that allows you to store online on their servers.
A software like that and is free to use and has a lot of good features and you can store up to 3gb as a free member ( they have larger packs at good prices if you are interesed
