    Vista Unidentified network error

I have recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate with service pack 1 and am getting the Unidentified network error on it. I have done a clean install of OS, so there is no norton or any other things that are blocking anything. I have also disabled the Windows firewall and am using a Linksys router for connection. I have also tried to setup a static IP but I am not able to see anything on the network. Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks.

It seems to me that you used regedit to remove the IPv6 from your pc and also made some other changes? Can you try to use the System Restore on your computer and go back to a time when you started making the changes? Also, incase you have installed any firewall then try to disable it or even uninstall it and see if that works.

    Re: Vista Unidentified network error

FYI the issue here lies in the fact that your network card isnt recognised by your DHCP in the modem/router which is what assigns your IP address be it wireless or rj45 is in your ipconfig I see that your not showing a default gateway which means that for some reason your network card is not being recognised by your modem/router. You can try going into configure in device properties and where it says network address the top is blank and the bottom has a radio button which says not present select the top box and enter the mac address of your card or enter a random set of number 2 pairs 7 sets like this 1.(2S)2.(2F)3.(G4)4.(UD)5.(6L)6.(3B)7.(X7) without parenthesis or numbers should look like this (2S2FG4UD6L3BX7) again without the parenthesis, the random set of number/letter assures you do not somehow have an identical number as someone else in your DHCP server or routing table and this should cause your modem/router to aknowlege that your NIC is there.
