How to bypass TCP/IP Connection limits ? (Event ID 4226 )

This is Windows Vista Home Premium. Due to some reason I wanted to bypass the TCP/IP connection limitations. But the problem is I don’t know how to do the same. While searching web I found that there were three patches launched for the same but none of them are working for me.Also I don’t want any P2P here because its very annoying to download anything at 20K/sec

Is there some new patch or any alternate way doing the same?

First of all backup your registry and try out the following steps:

1. Click on Start button.
2. Type regedit.exe in the Search box and then press Enter.
3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
4. Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\EnableConnectionRateLimiting key and double click on it.
5. In the Value data box, type "1" to enable it or "0" to disable it and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.
7. Restart the computer.

As far as P2P speed is concerned, just try calling up your ISP and see if they are low-prioritizing P2P connections.

As your subject talks about Event ID 4226, this may occur when a your router or any other network hardware does not support TCP Window Scaling. The term “TCP Window Scaling” is one of the new features embedded in Windows Vista feature. So in order to make it compatible, you will need to upgrade your router’s firmware as well as the NIC drivers to latest version.
