Remote Desktop Connection has stopped working Error

I am not able to establish a remote desktop connection to other system running windows xp pro since upgrading to windows Vista Business. I get a successful VPN connection message when i click on VPN shortcut but after a while i get an error message saying "Remote Desktop Connection has stopped working". I have gone through application event log and i see this:

    Event 1000 Source Application Error

Faulting application mstsc.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
    0x4549b425, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time
stamp 0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000af1c9,
process id 0xb98, application start time 0x01c74b397201ad17

Event 1001 Source Windows Error Reporting

    Fault bucket 351824205, type 1
    Event Name: APPCRASH
    Response: None
    Cab Id: 326419206

What might be the cause of this issue and what can i do to fix it???

First try disabling User Account Control (UAC). If that doesn't help then you can boot in to safe mode with Networking and try establishing RDP connection form there.

Re: Remote Desktop Connection has stopped working Error

Simply disabling User Account Control (UAC) did not made any difference in my case. However, after booting in to safemode and establishing RDP connection form there i did not got any error and everything is working fine. I don't know what's stopping it from establishing in normal mode. Do you have any idea about this??

If you don't have any issue in establishing RDP connection from safe mode with Networking the there might be some other third-party application conflicting with your RDP connection in your safe mode. In that case you can try disabling all un-neccessary background application and uknown services and establishing RDP connection as the stand alone program. You can try disabling your antivirus and other security program for that while as well. If you don't any any error after un-neccessary background application and uknown services then you can start enabling them one by one to find the one that might be conflicting with your RDP connection. In case you face any other error, then you can make a note of it and post back it on your next reply for further help.
