    Group Policy Preferences not applying on Vista with Service Pack2

    I want to deploy Vista with Service pack 2 and for that I am using an ISO that has SP2 integrated. But the problem is that the Group Policy Preferences will not work anymore. The client side extensions which is KB943729 are also included in SP2 as per the this link - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=22367. Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue?

    You can try to check if the Preference Client Side Extensions (CSEs) are installed on the SP2 machine or if they are removed?

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions\

    In there, there should be subfolders:

    Files Extension: {7150F9BF-48AD-4da4-A49C-29EF4A8369BA}
    Drive Maps Extension: {5794DAFD-BE60-433f-88A2-1A31939AC01F}

    Have you tried to re-install the CSEs?

    Re: Group Policy Preferences not applying on Vista with Service Pack2

    If I am trying to install this update then I am getting this message "This update does not apply to this system". I have managed to install the update by first extracting it and then installing it with pkgmkr.exe. And then of course, everything works as it should. It seems the list of updates included in SP2 is incorrect or that something is broken in SP2. Any other suggestions?

    Group Policy preferences are made up of more than 20 new Group Policy client-side extensions (CSEs) that expand the range of configurable settings in a Group Policy object (GPO). These new preference extensions are included in the Group Policy Management Editor window of the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
