    I can receive e-mail, but can't send.

I’m using Windows Vista and yesterday I configured Windows Mail as my default email client. Though there were no error message while setting up, am not able to send any email. There’s no problem in receiving the emailbut when I try sending any new message, here is what I get:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'Home', Server: 'smtphm.sympatico.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

So far I have tried turning off email scanning, disabled firewall, contacted ISP but nothing helped. Somebody please suggest me some working solution. Thank you.

Probably the problem is with your SMTP port settings that is showing up as “Port: 25“ in the error above. It should 110. You should better check the website of your Email Service Provider regarding the pop3 settings. Or atleast confirm them giving a call.

Which Antivirus are you using? I suspect your security programs for this error because the settings/configuration looks good to me. If you are using Norton or McAfee you should uninstall them complete from your system because they are well known for creating problems with Windows mail. So just remove them and see if you still get the error.

Carefully double check everything. Make sure you are not putting in @ insted of .

Use smtphm.sympatico.ca not smtp1.sympatico.ca And use port 587 not 25

Use pophm.sympatico.ca not pop1.sympatico.ca And use port 995 not 110
