pst bestand in Windowsmail

I was using Windows XP and Outlook as my default mail client earlier. Now upgraded one laptop to Windows Vista and started using Windows mail. Now the problem am facing is the backup of my older outlook is in PST format and when am trying to import them to Windows Mail, it is not able to do so. It gives me an error saying something like "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client".

Can someone give me help this annoying problem?

Dude, PST files are unique for Outlook only and cannot be imported in Windows Mail. So what you do is install Office / outlook 2007 and import those PST files in outlook on your new Vista computer.

Windows Mail wont read .pst files. Hence you will need to install Outlook Express on your old XP machine. Import outlook messages to Outlook Express and backup the mails in dbx format from outlook express. Now move this dbx to Vista and import it to Windows Mail through import wizard. It works.
