Import dbx files to windows mail

I have a back of my emails and contacts created by Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP. Now I want to import this in Windows mail on new Vista computer. When I try importing the same from Windows Mail > File > Import and point to the location where the files are saved, it is not able to recognize the dbx file.

Can anyone please tell me what is the way to import DBX in Windows mail?

Am sure you haven’t copied the Folders.dbx along with the dbx files on Vista. Windows Mail will not read the backup unless and until it finds this file. So go to OE store location and copy folders.dbx file as well and keep it with your dbx files in a folder and start import from Windows Mail.

Even I was looking for the same. Though I’ll try out these steps but wanted to know isn’t there any plug-in or addon kind of things for doing the same?

No, this is the only way to import Outlook Express backup in Windows mail. Even it gets harder if yoiu want to import backup from Outlook because you need to first import Outlook into Outlook Express and then to Windows Mail. Hope Microsoft makes this easier in Future.
