RE: Security update for SQL Server Pack 2(KB948109)

DEP is the Data Execution Prevention feature. Here is a link that will
describe how to turn it off.

However, I'm having the same issue, with the same error message and turning
off DEP didn't help either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. It is not possible to turn of DEP completely,
and it is not clear to me what application should be excluded from DEP to
allow this update to complete. Is it the SQL server? Is it a Win Update
application (which is an ActiveX control ... what is it called?)

I have tried hiding the update on about 25 machines in a teaching lab I
support, but it won't go away. I hid it 2 ways: from the yellow shield in the
tray and by using IE at update.microsoft.com.

    It will not go away.

Now this problem is serious for me though. I have a 2k3 server with the same
problem and now backup exec won't run.

What wonderful crap to waste time on :0
