Service pack 1 failed

Hi all. Hope someone can help me!
I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I tried to install service pack 1, using
automatic update and downloading and executing standalone file.
Both times computer block during the instalation displaying :
!!0xc01a001d!! 29026 / 74981 (\Registry\machine\schema\wcm://Microsoft...)
I had to cut the power to shut down computer.
