OliverC509 : Its because I wanted to thank you I registered for this site. Excellent post worked like a charm.. I too had tried everything else but couldnt get rid of that malware and wasnt able to update either ! My OS is Win7 Pro and I use a proxy server.

Well. i honestly must say with the luck i have been having i REALLY doubted that this TDSKILLER program would work, esp seing it didnt even have any update, just started scanning, I was having the same error code when trying to update windows or going to windows website, but it scanned, found this thing called PHYSCALDRV or smthing like that, asked me to reboot, i rebooted and it actually worked. I think i am going to remove my avast and become a Kaspersky user lol. Thanks for the recomendation

Thanks Oliver for mentioning Kaskpersky and the TDSSkiller. I tried AVG, Malwarebytes Antimalware with no success and a day of headaches. TDSSkiller cleared it up.
