    SoundMAX Intergrated Digital Audio (5.12.1.5246)

    To anyone whom can help

I have a PC which has had the sound muted for approximately six months,
during this time the PC has lost sound.

    The problem is:
When logging in you here the start up sounds but once the PC is up and
running the sound cuts off entirely. However you can get sound when external
speakers are added to the machine via the front (doesn't work on the rear for
    some reason).

I have attempted most standard fixes to no avail, anyone whom could offer
    assistance would be much apprecaited.

    Thank you

    try reinstalling the driver
the latest driver works much better than the one I found on the
    original CD with my mobo

    Hi there,

As far as I can tell the sound card has a detection mode for devices you
plug in, try to solve it with using that by using the soundmax utillity to
adjust sound settings from front attached speaker to rear.

    Best regards,

    Hi there,

I think you might have accidently taken a driver update for your soundmax
device from windows update, try rolling back on the driver or use system
restore to a date before the error ocuured

Re: SoundMAX Intergrated Digital Audio (5.12.1.5246)

    Hi there,

You can try to repair your windows installation if you have not made an
image of your good working installation before, however I still have the
impression the autosensing capability of the sound cardis the problem since
you do have sound on some jacks.

If you repair your windows installation, you will have to get all the
windows updates over again. Windows CD in the bios setted bootable cd drive,
after booting continue till F8 comes up for agreeing on the license and
    choose repair .

    Best regards,
    Michel Denie

Re: SoundMAX Intergrated Digital Audio (5.12.1.5246)

    Hi there,

Did you repair windows installation and still it does not work after
instaling the original drivers from your mainboard cd rom?

If not than it must be the autosensing or the audiocard is defective.

    Best regards,
    Michel Denie
