    Error number: 0x80244022

    Since about a fortnight ago I've been experiencing intermittent failures of
    the Windows Update site on all Windows XP Professional machines that I've
    been using. The most recent error is 0x80244022. Can someoen please tell me
    what's happening.

    Thanks.

    Me too, although I only noticed it yesterday. I had Automatic Updates
    working fine under SP1, then I installed and uninstalled SP2, now Automatic
    Updates doesn't work and chasing the updates manually gives Error 80244022
    when I try to install. Was anybody able to help you?

    I know this is an old post but I'm having this issue here recently. If I try
    to directly download the patches it gives me 'No Route to Host'. Anyone have
    a thought on this?

    Re: Error number: 0x80244022

    Does your log look like this one? (Do a find for 80244022 in it.)

    http://www.cybertechhelp.net/forums/...ad.php?t=53845

    (MSN search for
    80244022
    )

    In particular notice the "transient error" which precedes this error code:

    <example>
    2004-10-12 13:00:20-0500 1036 254 Download job for update C602BAD1-14DA-4AD0-991A-B83458030949, revision 100 hit a transient error
    801901f7.
    2004-10-12 13:00:20-0500 1036 254 Will not attempt to resume the job as it has reached the maximum number of attempts.
    2004-10-12 13:00:20-0500 1036 254 Error 80244022 occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls.
    </example>

    I think the significant error code in that case is 801901F7. It means that HTTP 503 error
    responses were being given to the connection request. On most? 8019.... codes it seems
    we can take the last 4 hex digits and convert them to decimal to get an HTTP error response
    code.

    Another MSN search finds that that means the "service is temporarily overloaded".
    So it sounds as if it really is a "transient" error which probably would not be seen
    if another attempt was made sometime later.

    That looks the same as mine. Were you able to resolve it at your location?
    I'm starting to think it's a firewall and routing issue somewhere in our
    network.

    RE: Error number 0x80244022

    Excuse me, what am I missing? I could not find any help at all in the
    previous posts. Only two articles are mentioned by one contributor, and
    neither of those have a thing to do with error number 0x80244022.
    So what are you so grateful for? Where's the help? More importantly, can I
    get some with the same problem?

    Play cards - make a big pot of coffee - take the dog for a walk - the
    choices are endless - only joking - if you follow the threads you will see
    that some are able to get into WU.
    Good luck - the queue might still be long though

    Re: Error number 0x80244022

    Why on earth these people from Microsoft don't let things clear when they
    suggest you how to solve problems? This number of error [Error number:
    0x80244022] is not included in the list of errors at the page they suggest
    you to check.
    It should be one of the first erros to be mentioned!!!
    Useless as usual!!!
