There seems to be some sort of issue with the WUA of the clients. Can you please tell us what version of WSUS you are using in your machine, I think that the WSUS 3.0 SP2 is the latest version. I will recommend you to make a WSUS upgrade to the new version to make sure that the clients get the latest WUA version. If you still face the issue then go to services.msc and stop the Windows Update service and then delete the c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder and start the service again. After that do a wuauclt /detectnow.

Try to install the first updates without using the web page or by installing it from the notification area. Just try to ensure that Windows Update is set to check for new updates automatically, it can be selected in Automatic Updates by going to Control Panel. You can even get the Windows Update to check for updates much quicker with the command prompt, just type C:>wuauclt /detectnow in cmd and press enter.
