    Error number: 0x8DDD0009

Running MS Update. After a long time scanning I get this message:

    Error number: 0x8DDD0009]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. Take the following steps to try solving the problem:
    Refresh the page.
In Internet Explorer, delete your Temporary Internet Files by going to the
Tools menu and clicking Internet Options.
Close and then re-open Internet Explorer.

If these steps don’t work, try visiting the site later or using the
    resources provided below.

I have cleared temp files as instructed and run MS Update again with the
same results. Running XP with SP2.

I am getting the same error and I cannot find any help on this error anywhere. I have run through all the troubleshooting steps that Microsoft suggests and nothing works. Anybody with any ideas?

I am getting the same error and Microsoft (MS) has not addressed this issue on their website. It looks like we all are being taken for a ride or MS themselves have not found a solution for this.

    RE: Error number: 0x8DDD0009 Solution

I think I found the solutoin courtesy of "Smart Computing" Magazine May 2006 issue. Type this from the command prompt:
    proxycfg -d
    net stop wuauserv
    net start wuauserv
    exit
Also disable any third party firewalls and virus protection.

Thanks Mike, I also came accoss a solution which was painful and time consuming but it now works. Unstall Service pact 2 for XP and re-install. It really worked.

I could not run proxycfg -d but doing the rest of this has seemed to work. Thank you for the info.
