I'm trying to install a sound card driver that requires the file from
kb835221. If I remember correctly, it used to be available directly from the
KB site, but not anymore. How can I obtain the Update.exe for it?

From the KB article:
| To obtain this feature immediately, contact Microsoft Product
| Support Services. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
| Support Services telephone numbers and information about support
| costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
Bye,

Yes, I know that the KB says that I need to call support, but why did
Microsoft take the executable off their website? Am I going to have to pay
for support just to get my sound card to work? If it's going to cost $100, I
would just go get another sound card and get done with it. Is there any
particular reason why it was taken off the site?

Ask Microsoft ;-)

Most likely not. The vendor of the sound card doesn't provide any
support at all?
Bye,
Freudi
oops, sorry I was talking like you were from Microsoft. I did pretty
intensive research on how to get this card to be installed, but all I could
find was to install KB835221 update. The manufacturer (C-media) only mentions
about it, but they don't provide us with the actual KB file.
Well, I did some more search and I found an executable. I will give it a try
tonight.
Thanks

Ehm, isn't C-media a manufaturer who sells his products to OEM only?
If that's still the case, contacting the OEM ("vendor") should help.

I *don't* recommend installing any "update" that one didn't received
by the vendor/manufacturer originally!
