"(...) Please contact your system administrator".
I get this message box when I try to update Windows XP Service Pack 2.
All the files are downloaded, but not installed.
I am in a corporate network, I am an administrator of this machine, with
full permissions, I believe.
The "svcpack.log" file in Windows folder shows the following:

I have tried:
- to run the 272 MB EXE for admins;
- to compare my "Local Security Settings" with another functional computer;
- to search the FAQ, Knowledge Base, Windows Update Help and Support, and
now these newsgroups.
If at least I could find someone with the same problem... :-/
It's been a month since I'm trying to make this work.
And there is no answer in the knowledge base yet, which make me think my
case is unfortunately unique. :(
Anyway, thanks for having the patience to read through this.
