    Did you ever solve the update installation problem? I am experiencing the
    very same difficulty.

    Thanks,

    What is your objective? To install the update or to install the update
    using WU? If the latter you may have to do some diagnosis.
    However, others have had success by doing the update manually.

    Use the following article for ideas (which you may have to adapt
    to your exact situation)

    <title>KB824643 - How to troubleshoot Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installation issues</title>

    http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e....windowsupdate

    (Google Groups search for
    install framework sp1 group:microsoft.*.windowsupdate
    - sorted by date
    )

    BTW if you choose to go for a strictly manual solution
    you will probably find better assistance in a newsgroup
    which specializes in the software being updated.

    Good luck
