Thread: Windows Update Error 8DDD0004

    Re: Windows Update Error 8DDD0004

Cheers for the long post Sky King, however like other readers, this didn't
    solve my issue!
I eventually tracked it down to a modem driver, which I'd installed
    incorrectly!
When querying the modem, it used to lock the PC for 30seconds and then
report that the modem was already in use. After trawling google, I finally
found the 'correct' driver for it, and lo the Windows Update service website
    now works

    HTH,

    Re: Windows Update Error 8DDD0004

When accessing the Update site, you receive the 0x8ddd0004 error
    http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...=en&IsMu=False

Error that you see in the upper-right corner when you visit the Windows Update Web site on
    a Windows XP-based computer: "[Error number: 0x8DDD0004]"
    http://support.microsoft.com:80/kb/914224/en-us

Error message when you scan for updates on a Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer:
    "Error number: 0x8DDD0004"
    http://support.microsoft.com:80/kb/914227

If necessary manually install the WU 3.0 client and the associated hotfix - see article
    for links

When you use Automatic Updates to scan for updates or to apply updates to applications
that use Windows Installer, you experience issues that involve the Svchost.exe process
    http://support.microsoft.com:80/kb/932494
