The general advice is to NEVER EVER download drivers from MS for anything
made by a MANUFACTURER who are NOT MS.
Go to the manufacturer's web site and find the appropriate driver for the
item you have.
You do not say why you were installing this updated driver - is there a good
reason? Just as well it would not install - you could have been in worse
trouble.
Update the graphic driver to Standard VGA (pick from list). Restart. Install
new wanted driver.
Download drivers from MS isn't of any problem. The drivers come from the
same manufacturer. It's the system (Vista/7) that is far away from perfect.
I seem to be having the same problem with a network connector driver. How do I detect if this update is better than what I have manually? I don't want to set "hide this update" until I'm certain that it's inferior.
I'm running Windows Vista Business, 32-bit.
Code:"Intel - Network - Intel(R) 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection Installation date: 5/8/2009 4:03 PM Installation status: Failed Error details: Code 80070103 Update type: Optional DriverUpdate: Intel Network software update released in February, 2008 More information: http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20160272 Help and Support: http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=hub"
You receive error 0x80070103 when you use the Windows Update or Microsoft

How to find out more about your drivers etc, you'll have to search, for
example, googling came up with this site
