net framework 3.5 service pack 1 where can i download this?

I have dial-up and it would take me something like 40-45 hours to do 248+ mb's.
I can go to the library and download this, but i could not find it at
microsoft download center. when i searched i could only find the small older
net framework 3.5 less than 4 mb's, Can someone give me a place to get this?

Have you tried starting the download? Depending on what components are already
present, it might need to download far less than this.

Try the Microsoft Update Catalog instead - start by going to the Microsoft
Update web site. I don't know whether this update is in the catalog yet, but
    theoretically it should be.

Freudi posted the link here yesterday, Harry:
    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/....aspx?q=951847
I can't make out any difference between the 4th and 7th items on the list there.
Possibly they listed the same thing twice, but maybe there is a difference.

    You are almost completely correct.

If you search KB951847 the results you got are obtained.
If you search 951847 the results I got are obtained.

    Hi Michael
    Then you are lucky -
As a rule, I get all Black Tuesday updates via MS Download Centre-then save
    to disc.

Searching All Downloads for KB951847 & 951847 - No Result
    Searching Security & Updates for KB951847 & 951847 - No Results

Mow gave a link to an Active X install - does this mean the AX needs to be
installed before you can get this update?
Looking at the problems being generated, I am not too sure I want this one
or need it. At the moment I have .Net 2 on XP Home SP3.

You don't want it. It's Microsoft at it's worst, trying to force a NET
    3.5 install on us.

It even reaches into Firefox and installs some crap !

Well, Antioch, it depends on your evaluation of the out-of-cycle update.
What WaIIy says has some merit. My thinking was that, even though it isn't
supposed to have anything to do with security, it might patch some flaws.
What are the chances of Microsoft being sneaky and dishonest? So I just
let WU do its thing, then found and uninstalled the FireFox latch-on.

Yes, you would have to install the catalog's Active-X to get it that way.

Automatic Updates ought to shove nothing past 2 at you, but it doesn't
look like that's the case. You don't need 3.0 and 3.5, but you might get
them. You may wish to find out whether that's how it is, or may not.

If all of the programs you run don't depend on .NET, you could uninstall
it via Add/Remove - just get rid of 1, 1.1 and 2.0 and see what happens.

Based on the packages in WSUS, I'd say that one of these installers updates .NET
products that are already present, while the other one performs a full install
of .NET 3.5 service pack 1 (including .NET 2 and .NET 3) regardless of what is
already present. However, I have no idea how to tell which is which. (I don't
think the .NET team thought this through very well.)

Actually on second thoughts the packages in WSUS probably don't have this
behaviour. It would still be my best guess for the packages in the catalog, though.

Well I suppose that is one way of looking at all Black Tuesday stuff - I
view all with great suspicion. To Think that 5-6 years ago I used to let
all updates DL and install on auto - until I got fried one month - never

    Hello Michael
Many thanks for your input - I will hang back and hide this one in the
Hidden Folder in MS Home updates.
In any case I still cannot find this update via my normal method and do not
really wish to install it by any other.
If there is something in my computer that will not work or tells me I need
    it, then I will reconsider.
The chances of MS being sneaky??? - well we all have our perceptions
regarding that. WGA et al was an eye-opener for me.

    Rgds
    Antioch
