update error code 80070570

I have been working for about two hours trying to install all the necessary
updates on my new laptop. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Service
Pack 1..I know what none of that means I just know that I also keep getting a
blue screen that pops up and has a bunch of words and another error code
which I can't read because the blue screen does a countdown by percent and
goes away too fast to write it down..I think it might have something to do
with the failed update error code 80070570..If anyone can give me the steps
to solve this problem I would be extremely grateful!! I'm getting very
frustrated!

80070570 = ERROR_FILE_CORRUPT

Is the machine still under Warranty or Service Contract?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Was a Norton or McAfee free-trial preinstalled on your computer when you
bought it? Are you still using it?
