Files & Folders Pemissions in Windows XP (Help)

We have an Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory activated in it. An also we have an file server with Windows 2000 Server.

And all the Clients have Windows XP.

Recently one of the User's Machine's OS was crashed. I had taken backup by connecting that Hard Drive as a slave and recovered all the data from all the drives and even from the Desktop.

Problem is when I am restoring the data i was able to copy all the data except the data i had copied form the desktop. The error message was that Data cannot be copied, Access is denied.

I had tried by changing the security settings of the files and folders but that didn't work. Can anyone give me a suggestion for this problem.

Can some on help in configuring windows 2003 server as file in an Windows xp workgroup environment? Should i need enable ADS for this? Please guide...
