    Netflix Error W8156-8000FFF on Windows 8

    I am running Windows 8 on my machine and have got some problems with Netflix. After I start the program and attempt to play a video then I am getting the below error message for Netflix:

    System Configuration Problem
    An unexpected error occurred when trying to play video. This may be caused by an out of date audio driver. Try updating your audio driver or diable Dolby Digital Plus. If you need Assistance with this problem, please call 866-579-7113 Error Code: W8156-8000FFF

    Is there anyone who can help me out to solve this issue? Thanks.

    It seems to me that there might be some set of drivers that is setting a registry key not properly. So check in registry key to see if the setting is set to 1 which might be the problem. When you will set the registry key to "0" which is related to Netflix then it will work just fine. In most of the system the same registry entry doesnt exist, so Netflix works properly there.

    So, I was searching for the registry key for Netflix and I was supposed to get this entry - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Audio] "DisableProtectedAudioDG"=dword:00000001. But I was not getting this entry of DisableProtectedAudioDG which didnt exist at all. I ended up creating a new string value for the same within the registry and after saving it, Netflix started to work again without any issues. Hope this helps.

    Actually, you have to change the "1" in the registry key to "0" and then only it will work. So, first of all go to Start and then in Run/Search box type regedit and then find this registry key - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Audio]
    "DisableProtectedAudioDG"=dword:00000001

    And then simply set the value from "1" to "0" and restart your computer. Now netflix will start to work properly.
