    Need Release notes for R02-B1 Acer M1100 bios version

    I own Acer Aspire desktop and it is having the below specification:
    • Processor-AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor
    • Memory-4 GB DDR2 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM
    • System Chipset-AMD 690V + SB600
    • Video-ATI Radeon X1200 graphic card
    • Operating System-Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2

    So here I am willing to get the AHCI work for the Crucial M4 SSD in my case I have checked out the bios (version R01-3, string 10/10/2007-RS290-SB600-6A669FK8C-0.) that I am having and it seems as if it is not supported so I just wanted to know that should upgrade to the version R02-B1, I am asking so because I am not having the Release notes for R02-B1 Acer M1100 bios version, so is there anyone who can help me out with the same and suggest me something on this??

    I dont think that your Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 might be natively supporting it and you will have to get the chipset drivers as well, if you want then you can just try to disable compatibility mode/IDE and then you should get the AHCI mode, you can just try out installing AHCI Support for ATI SB600 SATA Controllers by following the below steps:
    • First make sure that you are backing up the important data that you need and dong forget to the registry

    • After that check out and make sure that the AHCI is disabled in the BIOS
    • When you are ready with these things then you can just Download the drivers for the M3A/ATI SB600 from the below link:
    • M3A/ATI SB600 driver

    • Now after downloading the driver just Extract the zip file and then browse the respected path and then just copy the below text in a notepad file and then save the same with .reg file extension:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase\pci#ven_1002&dev_4380&subsys_ 82311043]
    "Service"="ahcix64"
    "ClassGUID"="{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ahcix64]
    "Type"=dword:00000001
    "Start"=dword:00000000
    "Group"="SCSI miniport"
    "ErrorControl"=dword:00000001
    "ImagePath"="system32\\drivers\\ahcix64.sys"
    "tag"=dword:00000019
    "DisplayName"="ATI AHCI Compatible RAID Controller"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ahcix64\Parameters\PnpInterface]
    "5"=dword:0x00000001
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ahcix64\Settings\CAM]
    "EnableALPEDisableHotplug"=dword:0
    "EnableCCC"=dword:1
    "CCCTimeoutValue"=dword:10
    "CCCCompletionValue"=dword:32
    "NCQEnableDiskIDBits"=dword:0
    "EnableHIPM"=dword:0
    "EnableDIPM"=dword:0
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ahcix64\Enum]
    "0"="PCI\\VEN_1002&DEV_4380&SUBSYS_82311043\\3&13c0b0c5&0&FA"
    "Count"=dword:00000001
    "NextInstance"=dword:00000001
    • Once you are done until here then just get a Linux-based live CD and then run “sudo lspci -vvnn | less” command to make sure that the subsystem numbers are proper.

    • After that Double-click on the registry file so as to add entries in the registry and after modifying the registry just registry, if at all you get a bluescreens then make sure that you are restarting the system after that and then editing the registry a bit and then try out the same again.

    • Now just run the AsusSetup.exe and then leave the installation process carry out its task and then when the process gets completed them restart the system for taking the effect.

    Re: Need Release notes for R02-B1 Acer M1100 bios version

    Hey thanks for that but then I have checked out the solution and as I am having Windows 7 X64 I have found that the problem in my case is that the AMD does not make an ahcix64.sys driver for the SB600 chip under Windows 7, so, I just wanted to know that should I try out the above solution? Will it be helping me out in getting the AHCI work?? I also wanted to share that I have tried updating the Bios using AWDFLASH.EXE but then I got an error saying that the "The program's part number does not match with your system" so will it be safe to use /Py switch which is an update from the Acer??? Any further help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

    Re: Need Release notes for R02-B1 Acer M1100 bios version

    First of all I have checked out the Acer M1100 bios update and it is appearing to be “01/08/2008-RS690-SB600-6A669FKZC-00” and now 10/10/2007-RS290-SB600-6A669FK8C-0. So I think that her you are just getting stuck with different bios but then for the same system, so here the two question that is arising in my mind is that is Acer having 2 revisions? Can the Z-revision of the bios be use for the revision? I think that you will have to ask the same to the acer support, so just contact then and address them the same and check out what answer they are having for you. Best of luck.
