There is no way to convert the .ts to .mts or to .m2ts. those are the files associated with AVCHD, that means it is the new HD camcorder format which compress using the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 standard and that compress without losing the quality that much . all of those files is the same the only difference is the application that is used to move those format from the camcorder to your PC

Re: Is there any difference between .ts and .mts

Well m2ts, mts, m2t and ts these all are the Transport Streams of MPEG2 container format. The M2T or TS was made for broadcast systems and uses 188-byte packets. And not it is the extended to the HD camcorders by added 4 byte time code and that made M2TS/MTS is using 192-byte packets. The same thing used in the Blu-ray Discs and AVCHD. M2TS and MTS is similar and it is possible to change the file extension however since the modification in the underlying packet structure you not able to rename MTS/M2TS to M2T/TS. It must be re-packaged using a MPEG2 or MPEG4 library. So conversion to .ts from . mts , keep the video, audio and data streams same. It just the repackage that have been little different container structure basically a time code stripped

Hope you have understand this technical explanation

That is nice that means that I will be saving a lot of disk space because if I make the video that mean leaving video capture on a minute before and after to be certain that you are catching something worth

in any case, it is a transport stream with 192 bytes in length TS packets. These are also the TS packets Blueray discs and differ from normal TS packets, such as digital TV (DVB) are produced by other 4-byte field length of time. A person who is arbitrary files MTS MTS or M2TS to write new file you should 4byte time PCR and adjusted. Cutting some programs, but even regardless of the work and still clean (tested with Sony Vegas Pro). .
