Openoffice: soffice.bin consumes a lot amount of resources.

I am using OpenOffice and after some time, maybe 15 to 20 minutes, I realize that my pc is working slowly. I opened the Task Manager to end the unwanted processes. In Task Manager I saw that soffice.bin; a process related to OpenOffice is consuming over 40K of computer memory. What do I do to save computer memory from being consumed at such high rate?

soffice.bin is related to OpenOffice suite. It is located in subfolder of C:\Program Files. It is of size 2,510,848 bytes on Windows XP & Windows 7. No information about this file is available. It is not a Windows core file. So any damage to the file will only affect the software.But consuming 40k of computer resources is not a natural for an software like OpenOffice. Even though I am not using OpenOffice, it keeps consuming resources.

On quick launch panel you can find icon for OpenOffice. Right click on it to get its options. From there open its settings and disable the 'Launch on Startup' option. With this the process mentioned will only launch when the software is executed and other times it won't be working. Some malwares camouflage themselves as soffice.bin. If you find this file in C:\Windows\System32 folder, then it must be the one slowing down the performance of your computer.
