Need help to increase a video brightness

I recently downloaded a video from a website page using RealPlayer. It's too dark and I want to lighten it up. But when I try to import it into Windows Movie Maker or VirtualDub it gives me an error that says, .flv is not a supported file type and it cannot be imported to Windows Movie Maker. How can I get around this? Is there a way or another video editor that will accept the file type. Or am I just doing something wrong? HELP!!!

There are ample of video convertors which can help you for this. The first one is VLC. Download this software and install it in your system. VLC offers you to adjust the video brightness. You can modify the contrast and huse also. You can also save the video in the modified settings. Click on View > VLM Control and type a name in the name box add a name. Then browse the video and open it. Try to play with video overlay settings and then press Ctrl + S to save the video.
