Looking at the situation I suggest following steps which you can try.
- You should download and install Canon RAW Codec 1.5.0 version that ‘rc150upd_7l.exe’ from the official website.
- You have to right click on CR2 and select open with. Now go for Windows Live Photo Gallery to launch the CR2 files.
If you are not able to get the thumbnails into file explorer then you can use the below mentioned steps.
- You have to look for the folder which is causing issue.
- Launch the CR2 file into Windows live photo gallery.
- Now from the windows live photo gallery and you have to click on ‘Include folder in gallery’.
- Once done you will get the thumbnails in both file explorer and windows live gallery.
The display of thumbnails into the x64 version of the Windows is seems to be biggest issue until and unless Canon is supposed to provide needed x64 filter with the application provided. The issue could be resolved by improving Windows rather than of ask the Canon about the solution.
People who are looking for the method to see the raw thumbnails into the x64 explorer can go for the camera codec pack. You can get the same from the official website.
You can also go for FastPictureViewer codec pack. It is having support for the 45+ image format into the Windows explorer Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Photo Viewer. Also it is having support for raw formats For 380 digital camera models For all the branded cameras. It supports image format like OpenEXR, Radiance HDR, TGA, Softimage PIC, Autodesk Maya IFF, PNM, and DirectX DDS including ATI 3Dc compression.
