unable to recognize files in vlc.

i am using mac operating system and i used to watch avi movies on my vlc media player. but recently i am facing some problems and an unknown message appears that it is unable to recognize it. the .dmg file specified for the mac os X is appearing and i don't have any idea about it. can you provide some solutions for the same as i am willing to continue with the vlc.

i think here you are concerning with the version of mac OS . and it depends on the version of mac OS to deal with. you should also check the mounting of the file in finder.

i think here you should install the application. in addition to this , you should set the preferred application as VLC for the movie which you desired. or have a complete removal of vlc and then make a re installation of it. and check whether this problem still persists or not. or the downloading of the file could have been corrupt. try downloading again.

i am having VLC on my iMac and there was a same kind of issue. in my case i am occurring with "disk images failed to mount" error in addition with "vlc-1.1.10.dmg" is "not recognized". i also need help in this case. I had to look for it with Spotlight as it didn't appeared on the desktop . can someone have solution over it.
