Getting video stuttering when using VMware workstation 8

After upgrading to video Workstation 8 was fine, however as soon as updating the tools I get video VMware stuttering (sticks sandwiched between two frames) after about 5 minutes on a number of video material, audio continues. By using VMware tools I have no trouble.

I cannot consider I'm the only one. As I am not able to install VMware tools I am also experiencing slow network and the USB connection on the host. WS7 performs well.

On the positive side is that the beginning of everything from the guest host that runs hibernate seems to be faster. By the way the machine is running on W7-64B and 16 GB of memory.
