Please can anyone tell me how to get Word Starter 2010 (Windows 7) to start in 'Normal' screen mode and not in 'Maximised' screen mode?

I think that it might be a Starter issue as Office always opens to state it closed in for me. If nothing else seems to work you can always use an addin to run a macro on loading Excel that will manually take the window down to normal. You can check what all word features that are not fully supported in Word Starter given here.
Thanks Einstein. I think you are right that it is a 'Starter' issue. Microsoft has built in some features to the Starter versions that are designed to be annoying (eg adverts).
One of the features that seems to be missing is the Macro editor. The View menu options are much reduced and I cannot see the macro option.
Looks like I have to pay, or accept the limitations. At the moment, each time I have to click on the 'Normal' screen size icon, I think of the £100 I am saving by using the Starter version.
Yes, the office Starter 2010 is a low-end, free (but ad-supported) bundle of Word and Excel. Other issues is that it wont support all the same file types as Microsoft Office did, making Works only somewhat compatible with Office. Since Starter is an OEM-only product that will be preloaded on new PCs, it makes sense it won’t work on XP machines as well.
