I think there could be several reason which might be the root cause of the problem.
    • Can you tell me which operating system do you have installed on the computer?
    • Which Version of kernel you are using?
    • Tell me about the hard ware configuration of the computer?
    • Do you have done any recent changes on the computer?

Well I am having a particular solution which you can try to fix the matter of yours. I recommend following command which you should run on the system of yours. Make sure that you have copy and pasted the above mentioned command terminal.
    Code:
    apt-get install unrar-free
I am hoping that the command which I have mentioned over here would be useful to you.

Let me know whether the above mentioned command is working or not. If there is no difference in the situation then I recommend following command on the terminal.
    Code:
    apt-cache search unrar
you should copy and paste the above mentioned command on the terminal and press enter. So try the same and let me know whether it is working or not.
