word and excel docs taking long to open from shared network server

Hi Guys

i just setup my new laptop with windows 7 and am finding that when i open word and excell docs and pics, bascially any docs actually from my shared network server which we save all our business docs on it is taking alot longer than it used to on my old crappy laptop which used to open docs from the shared network server instantly like in a second.

if i click on say a word doc on netwrok server i get a download bar at the bottom of the docs page which takes about 15seconds to downlaod and then open the doc. All docs open instantly on my local drives so it must be a setting as this has only started with my new laptop.

Can you tell us if there are any performance issue with other types of documents, such as PowerPoint, Notepad as well? Also, can you confirm whether this performance issue occur when saving the Excel and Word files on another network share? As far as I can say, this problem might be related to many factors, such as the network speed, software conflicts, viruses, etc. I suggest you scanning your computer and your network places for viruses. Also, use another network share to test the results.
