The most excellent parental guidance software is actually the parent - time spent with the kid whilst on the net will be the excellent asset in the long term. I sit with my little brother while he is researching things on the net for homework. It takes eternally but he gets an actual throw out of doing it himself. However, as a parent or as a big brother myself, I appreciate that you can't all the time be watching over their shoulder if you want to instill a few responsibilities in the child. Permitting them to search carefully would remove any type of force they feel with you watching. I know as a child I used to abhorrence it while my parents watched over what I did.

I implicit that installing the Windows Live Family security thus means that the kid has to be logged into messenger and email access also to utilize the filtering? In addition have an email address? This is why I have not setup this bit; I don't wish all that too, just the website filtering. A Net Nanny kind solution avoid that but I wouldn't setup Net Nanny on a rig that I would utilize as well, it swaps Windows Firewall and so on - you can immobilize the filtering for dissimilar accounts I think but it is fairly of a raff to have to do that.
