Windows Media Player is opening all the .exe files

Well I am really happy with this particular forum. This particular forum has helped me many times to fix the problem of mine. Hence I am return with another problem which I have begun to face from past two days. Whenever I am trying to launch any .exe file on the computer it seems to open with the Windows Media Player. Even I am unable to get the Open With option on the right click context menu. I have searched a lot on the Google but it did not seems to help me out. Thanks a lot in advance if you are having any solution to fix the problem of mine.

I want to know little more information so that I can tell you what you you should do to fix the problem of yours. First of all tell me which operating system do you have installed on the computer? Do you have done any software changes on the computer? Do you getting any error message on the screen? if your answer is yes then simply post the same over here. Well looking at the situation which you have provided over here I am suspecting that this issue is totally associated with filetype associations. To fix the matter use the following instruction.

• You have to click on the Start menu and simply click on the Default Program button.
• Now you need to go for ‘associate a file type or protocol with a program’ and have look if you are able to get the option to change or remove the improper association.

Try the above mentioned thing and let me know whether issue is persisting or not.

I was having the same problem which you have mentioned over here. I have done with lots of trick and tricks but none of them was useful to me. But finally I have managed to fix the problem of mine. Well I have clicked on the Tool menu of the Windows Explorer and went for the folder options in which I have clicked on the File Types. In this particular option you will be able to change the program according to requirement of yours. I am hoping that it would be helpful to fix the problem.

I am suspecting that you have something really wrong on the computer. Hence I am recommending that you should try to boot the computer into safe mode and see whether an issue is persisting or not. One step further I am suggesting that you need to try to perform System restore on the computer. You need to restore your system to the previously created restore point on the computer of yours. Well according to me it would be the most reliable remedy which is I know so far.

Well I have seen many situations in which such problem is happening due to the virus attack on the computer. The solution is an efficient antivirus program. So you should install a good antivirus program like KIS or something like that on the computer. You should update the same with latest antivirus signature and perform a virus scan on the computer. After finishing with the Virus scan you need to reboot the computer and see if the issue is existing or not.
