Difference between pixel and vector graphics

In computing the 2D digital images are divided into two broad categories as they are made: pixels and vectors, and I know that there are big differences between the two formats, especially from a visual standpoint. But the fact is I am make it out only practically, if someone asks me to write about the differences, I can't.!! So please help me and provide some differences between pixel and vector graphics. I am sure that someone hanging out there must definitely having an idea about it, so provide information accordingly.

Re: Difference between pixel and vector graphics

The image pixels were invented 50 years ago and are not much different from then, if not by the number of pixels visible and printable today is vastly higher. Pixels are the individual elements from which a digital image is formed in a system based on a grid of color and tone. Raster or Bitmap (which has nothing to do with bmp) are terms used to identify all the images within this model (also JPG) rasterization is the process by which the vectors are transformed into digital images based on pixel. If the pixels are divided into blocks of an image on the screen points, vectors are geometric shapes, points, lines, curves, and polygons on a grid algebra. These forms, points, lines, curves and polygons are called primitive and, collectively, are the foundations of vector graphics.

The important difference between pixels and vectors is that carriers are different from each other while the pixels are all the same size and have a clearly defined position. When you zoom in a form of a vector, you can not distinguish the individual points of that element. The consequence of this is that vector images are resolution-independent image. Raster images are poorly defined when low-resolution image, or describe a few pixels. Vector images, on the other hand, can be enlarged or extended without loss of quality and colors that are bright and shiny.

If you download a low resolution JPG and then try to enlarge or change the proportions of length and width, it is more and more grainy or distorted. If it convert into vector image with a program that works with this kind of files can be enlarged without problems, without loss of quality. Flash animations contained in all websites and online advertising are the most visible example of vector graphics. The icons, logos for companies and abstract figures are always vectors. In Printing we always work with vector graphics because the images are cleaner and more defined, scalable and resizable without losing quality. Many artists prefer to create their works in digital graphics carriers because it allows the lines clean. The standard of advertising billboards or magazines uses vector graphics.

The pixels are instead the standard for digital camera. Creating a vector image is on a need to design a logo, a sign, a symbol, a logo and so on. It also serves to enlarge or rotate images smaller without losing visual quality (for example, to print on a shirt), or rotate them to give visual effects to photos (like the symbol of Che Guevara). For example, those unfamiliar with digital graphics, you may draw your own logo on paper and then scan it to see it on the computer screen. To be able to use and publish on the Internet or to create a cover of some sort, this image must be vectorized to see it well.

The free program Inkscape is the leading software used to create vector graphics and photos or to convert raster images or bitmaps into vectors. I'm not saying that it is easy to use Inkscape, but thanks to an interface entirely in Italian and the availability of very detailed manual, is available to everyone. For example, to convert a bitmap image into vector image, just go to File -> Import, choose any image from your computer, including jpg and import it into Inkscape. Select the image, resize as you want, go to the menu Path -> Trace Bitmap. Again with the selected image from multiple scans, set Color with 16 scans and press OK. Select another image, go to Path -> Simplify. You can also choose to remove the background and to eliminate edges and contours with the function that divides the group. In the end, you can delete the raster image and save that file with Vector svg or png format (making return bitmap).A more free and easy makes the conversion from bitmap to vector image is RasterVect Free Edition. It offers a handy conversion wizard to one or more images together. The program also offers a range of editing, design, masking, screen capture and more.

The colors will be significantly reduced, up to 32 colors, but is not a limitation but rather a property of vector images. The paid version also allows you to convert the contours of the center lines. A program fee is better but VectorMagic which also has a limited free version. To try it, you can download VectorMagic (or use the online service free) and follow the automatic creation of a vector to look at how much difference there is with the pixel-based, you'll be amazed.
