    Can't Install Outlook 2010 64bit

I originally had the trial version of Microsoft Office 2010 installed. I thought I had deleted it, but later when I tried to install a standalone version of Outlook 2010 64bit I keep getting one of two error messages.

One says I still have a 32-bit Office file installed: xxxxx.iso ????? I cannot find it anywhere on my computer.

The other says "mapi32.dll error": I removed mapi32.dll from the registry, but I still get the same thing.

    Can anyone help?

    Re: Can't Install Outlook 2010 64bit

Below is a solution given to correct the outlook 2010 64bit installation issues:

    Run REGEDIT and goto:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail]

Right-click and create a new key called Outlook64Bridge

Then right-click Outlook64Bridge and create two keys under it DLLPath and DLLPathEx

Find the 32 bit version of the file MAPI32.dll and assign the whole qualified pathname to each key, mine were:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook64Bridge\DLLPath

    "D:\WINDOWS\system32\mapi32.dll"

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook64Bridge\DLLPathEx

    "D:\WINDOWS\system32\mapi32.dll"

Then go back to the root key name and show the default client as Outlook64Bridge

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail

    "Outlook64Bridge"

    Works like a charm

    Einstein 007,

Thank you very much for your advice.

I was mistaken in my original message: it was OLMapi32.dll not Mapi32.dll. OLMapi32.dll is nowhere to be found on my machine!!

Nevertheless, I did as you suggested, then tried to reload Outlook 2010.

    Received the following:

"You cannot install the 64-bit version of Office 2010 because you have 32-bit Office products installed. These 32-bit products are not supported with 64-bit installations:

    Microsoft Single Image 2010"

Oddly enough, I have a Microsoft Outlook icon on my desktop and it's when I click on that that I get the OLMapi32.dll error. But when I go to try to uninstall Outlook it does not appear in the list!!

To clarify: I loaded Microsoft Office Student Edition which does not contain Outlook. That's why I'm trying to install Microsoft Outlook as a separate program.

Regarding the issue which you are getting i will advise you to run the Run Office Diagnostics and the see what error you are getting. This tool will run on your computer and detect the problem related to the Office and will recommend you the proper solution for same. So if you can then try this out and see what you are getting to work with this.

    • Another Solution
    • Start the Computer in safe Mode
    • Now Click on Search
    • Type MSMAPI32.dll. and hit enter
    • Now Rename the MSMAPI32.dll to MSMAPI32.old.
    • Again try to install Outlook
    • You are done

Alas, Office Diagnostics is no longer a part of Microsoft Office.

Alas #2: MSMAPI32.dll does not appear to be included in Microsoft Office 2010
Microsoft|Technet advises running the "repair utility" from the Control Panel: I was unable to find this utility.

    Thanks anyway

    2. In the Search for files or folders named box, type scanpst.exe
    3. Double click the Scanpst.exe file to open the Inbox Repair Tool.
    4. Type the path and the file name of the personal folders (.pst) file or click Browse to locate the file by using the Windows file system.
    5. Click Start.

It appears that Scanpst.exe does not exist on my computer
