I think that if you are not getting the driver in the driver list then it is not installed properly so do one thing try and download the driver and then install the same on to your system. The thing here is that if the driver is not properly installed on the system then it will not show you in the list. And this time make sure that you make the proper download compatible to your system and install it on your laptop. I hope that this will help you to get rid of the problem.

The first thing that you have to do here is that just go to the preferences and then to the output menu and see if any thing wrong or modified there and after that you have to go in the components menu and see to it whether the Asio plug-in is installed or not. If not then you have to installed the same as soon as possible on your system. And then you will get the proper sound output. I hope this will definitely help you to resolve the issue.

I have gone through your problem and it seems to me that the media player that you are using is giving you the problem. It may have happen that the media player might have got corrupted and it is not responding to the task provided. So what you have to so in this case uninstall the current media player that you are using in this case it is the foobar and then again install the fresh copy of the same. After complete and proper installation just restart your system that will help you to restore the settings. Then try and play the music files that you were unable to play earlier. hope that this process will help you to solve the issue. and also the problem will not occur in the future but make sure that you update the driver regularly.

It seems to me in this case you have to go with the VLC media player. It is the latest media player and almost plays all the media files on the system. The thing here is that instead of staying with the foobar media player which is giving you problems just replace it with the Vlc. I am sure it will definitely help your cause and also will let you to solve the problem that you are getting.
