XP wont boot after using recovery disk

HI,
I set up laptop with Ubuntu on portable drive, dual boot option to test OS
needed to have portable drive inserted at all times as boot sector was now on that.
Decided to do clean install of C: as was overdue anyway.
Recovery disk says installation completed OK. will now reboot but it won't
All I get is flashing cursor and blank screen, cannot use any keys
Using F2 I can get into boot menu
Any ideas, please.

It seems that the Recovery disc may have caused problem as some bug may have been appended with the same. you can boot the system by one way. all you need to do is to make a bootable USB flash disk. Now you have to put DSL that is Damn Small linux and make the system to be boot. As this is been done put the discs to burn and keep your data to be backed up. So make the changes to get it worked. This will be better for you and make it function as needed. Do look out and process out. It will let to a desired conclusion.
