Canon 350D: edit photos in RAW format

I have loaded pictures from my Canon 350D to my PC with Windows 7 I get the photos in Picasa 3, but not in windows explorer or editor Photpscape. I do not have the software that came with your camera to find my camera , use Picasa to upload your photos. To see the pictures in windows explorer I do not get up but the file format and numbers of the image: 002.CR2

What can I do to have seen the pictures ( except in Picasa )? I will be opening them in Photoscape so I can edit them in RAW format.

Why not use the excellent software that comes with Canon: Zoom Browser or DPP .

Canon's ZoomBrowser make it easy to view, organise and edit your images. They allow you to perform many of the functions found on Adobe Photoshop such as cropping, converting JPEG and RAW images and adjusting contrast and saturation.

'Digital Photo Professional' is a software developed for the Digital EOS SLR Cameras to provide high speed RAW image processing and digital workflow solution to support professional users.

I have lost the cd and downloaded one of the latest versions of softwares from the net (canon site), but it says it is not compatible with the camera. Where can I get the "old" version that came with the camera in such case ?

That's what the stupidity with the system for Canon - you must have CD for ever as it is not possible to install the update without the original CD is installed first. But if I am not wrong then you must be having 64- bit Windows 7? Because the Canon does not have a pure RAW plugin for 64 bit Windows 7 but you will find one for 32 bits here. Select EOS 350D Digital from the Camera menu.

RAW is a special format that has limited support, so you can seldom expect that systems that can easily handle formats like JPEG and GIF also supports myriad raw formats exist. You can download the codec and see if any of the programs can benefit from it. Moreover, since Digital Photo Professional comes with the camera, you can upgrade it for free.

You can overcome this problem by installing the various Canon -utils as follows:

    1. on 32- bit Windows: Save the following in a. reg file and run it:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Capture]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOSViewerUtility]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\PhotoStitch]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility]
    2. on 64- bit Windows : Save the following in a. reg file and run it:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOS Utility]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\DPP]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\PhotoStitch]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOS Capture]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOSViewerUtility]
