Getting "Converter Failed to Save the File" error message

I use MS Word to make web pages. For years I have edited files by going to the html file, then clicking "Edit w/Word." (Years ago there used to be the trademark blue W on the top toolbar also, which accomplished the same thing.)

My school district recently upgraded to Office 2007, and now I get this error message whenever I try to edit a page. My site is outdated and administration is breathing down my neck. HELP!!!

The concerned is the 'x' suffix (.xlsx, .docx, .pptx and so on) which signifies the XML document format. If you are running Compatibility Pack then uninstall it and install the complete version. It is because Office version prior to 2007 cannot read this kind of file.

If this is not the case then, open the file using MS Word 2007 and then save it as Ms 2003-2007.
