I think this is the issue with the driver which might be older and not getting the compatibility with the Windows 7. I will advise you to install the latest driver for the Nikon CoolScan Scanner. Just go to the Nikon site and download the Windows 7 compatible driver which will help you with the same.

If i am not wrong then you might be using the Vuescan installed into the system. If you are using the same then first uninstall the Vuescan and after that perform the above given step. Later on you can again install the Vuescan into the system of yours. So go through the same and see whether you are getting it work or not.

I think that this is the issue with the compatibility with the Windows 7. To get rid of this issue i will advise you is to install the Windows XP mode so that you can run the Nikon CoolScan driver for the same. The Windows XP mode will allow you to run the older version of the driver on the Windows 7. I hope this will help you with the issue of yours.
