Not able to reboot system due to uTorrent application

I use a desktop which is been installed with Mac OS X. The problem is that I am not able to work well that is the system is not able to reboot or shutdown while uTorrent application is on. It give a message with pop up and is unable to work well with the same. I have no idea what could have been the issue. Please do help me out so that I can get sort the thing well. It would be helpful.
