    Formats for /etc/mailhelo, mailips, etc.

I want to make changes in the way how mails have sent from one machine to another and actually this computer machine is on a network and has bit poor reputation because of which i want to do this. I have an additional IPs and can switch the sending ip to something else. Send HELO based on the domain name in /etc/mailhelo.

I have an idea by which you can do the task which you wish to do. You have to set an Internet Protocol that matches to the domain name in /etc/mailips from where you want to send mails. Internet Protocol can be added to the file in order to change the main interface for an outgoing mails. So you may now try to set an IP as same as /etc/mailips.

Instead of using the main Internet Protocol address for sending the mails, You can use an automatic way to send mails from the account's IP. But i give you the warning that if you enable this automatic settings then make sure that reverse DNS entries match the ones in /etc/mail_reverse_dns.
I guess you should at least try once to send mails automatically.

If you want to have the full version of the files along with the syntax then you have to temporarily enable the an "automatic" option in your WHM.
Open WHM and then go to the Main and then select Service Configuration. Now go to an Exim Configuration Editor and choose for Standard Options. Here you would be having Domains and IPs. By doing this setting in your WHM you would be able to send mails automatically.

I have an alternative method by which you can create them manually and it would be needing to use your own domains and IP addresses wherever it would be applicable. please note that to retain customizations of the two files, mailhelo and mailips and it would be compulsory to enable an options from the Exim Configuration Editor on WHM.

If you wish to customize of HELO responses from Exim then only you need the mailhelo and mailips files. And in order to override the stock-default behavior of Exim using the main server IP address. If you opt to -not-use- the "automatic" option then you must manually create and manage the two (mailhelo and mailips) files. Conversely, if you opt to -use- the "automatic" option then cPanel will create and manage both files for you based upon the IP address of each account.

If an account is on an IP address different than your main server IP address then only you should get this kind of messages or it could also happen if the default interface's IP address that you have Exim configured to use. It might happen that the third party mailing server would be more strict.
