Windows Media Player 11 delayed to close on Dual Core Processor

I use Media Player 11 on Windows XP with Dual core processor.
The problem occures when I close Media Player.

    Operations are as below:
1)Play an asf (WMV) file on Media Player
    2)Input "CTRL+P(pause)" or "CTRL+S(Stop)" by keyboard
    3)Input "CTRL+W(cloase)

after that, Windows Media Player can't work for about 5 secounds.
I searched many Webs, but I couldn't get a reason.
As a trial, I changed CPU relation of task manager (I checked only one of checkbox "CPU0" or "CPU1"), this problem is gone.

Is it a bug of Media player?

Can anyone have any information or how to fix this problem?
I hope I can get the hotfix about it.

    Please give me any suggestion,

    Thanks

I think that this problem is cause due to a sound driver issue that can be solved by disabling "enhancements" in the Sound Control Panel. Try the below solution and check whether it works or not:

    1. First try to launch Sounds in Control Panel
    2. Then get into the Sound Control Panel and right-click on Speakers and select Properties
    3. Then you will have to navigate to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements
    4. IMPORTANT: You MUST have Disable All Enhancements checked even if none of the enhancements are specifically enabled. In other words: it must match the screenshot below exactly.
    5. Then click OK and close the Control Panel.

    Thank you for the information.
I use windows XP, may be there is not "sound control panel" in my PC.
Instead of that, I disabled sound driver (Realtek High Definition Audio) in the "sound and audio device control panel", and the Media Player work well.
But I want to listen sounds, so I couldn't solve the problem yet.

    Thanks anyway.

Just a thought, have you tried updating your video and audio driver? Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows Media Player 11 again just to check if it still gives the same problem or not? What you can also try to do is, in the WMP Options dialog, on the Library tab, uncheck all the boxes in the lower half that have to do with updating metadata for files. This will prevent WMP from changing any ripped content that is still not updated on your system. As for plug-ins in WMP, if you press Alt -T -> Plug-ins, it will show you any that are loaded and may add to the exit delay.
