Setting up a 5.1 sound system with a laptop

I recently purchased a new HP notebook computer.

Right now I have a 5.1 sound system hooked up to my desktop using the three analog jacks (green, orange and black).
I plan to sell my desktop and just use the notebook from now on.

I purchased a dock with the notebook which has an SPDIF port.

If possible, how do I connect my 5.1 sound system to the dock?

It is quite possible to do. You may need to use an amplifier for getting the things to work out. Do check for the same. I hope this may then help you out to get the issue sorted. Do look for the same.
