    New Alcohol and my DVD drive got disappeared

    I have installed Windows XP and i am using LG DRD8160B DVD Rom on my computer system which has been connected to the Secondary IDE Channel. Since i have installed a latest Alcohol v1.4.3.518, My DVD Rom drive have gone and there is no software which can detect it. Is there an alcohol behind disappearing of my DVD Rom.

    I do not think that it would be consuming much time to uninstall an alcohol and then reinstall it in order to check that your DVD Drive is working or not. Go to the control panel and open Add Or Remove Programs where you must find for the Alcohol, Remove it and the reinstall it. Do not forget to check for the dvd drive after uninstalling this software, restart it after an uninstallation.

    Here i have provided the simple solution for you to make your dvd drive visible on your computer system. Click on the start menu and then on the search and type "devmgmt.msc" in the RUN without quotation marks. One thing you should make sure that you only remove the proper device. This should not be a difficult task for you.

    Before some time i have faced this kind of problem but i guess it was bit bigger then yours as my computer system was not showing any of the drives in the Device Manager. Follow the given steps to solve this problem.
    1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
    2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    6. Quit Registry Editor.
    7. Restart your computer.
